Rosy outlook for native food industry
The Australian native food industry is expected to double within the
next five years, after the Australian food company, Ward Mackenzie,
announced it will support bush tucker manufacturer, Robins Foods.
The native food sector is currently worth $10 million a year, with
growing domestic and export markets.
Robins Foods currently exports to Britain and Asia, and is on the
verge of entering the US.
Managing director, Juleigh Robins, says the company has an ethical supply chain to deliver benefits back to Aboriginal people.
"It sort of started off as a philosophical sort of position my
partner and I took but it's ended up being a really sound decision
because we've been able to attract the interest of Coles and supply
chain partners of that calibre and Ward Mackenzie is one of them,"
